Mac and cheese
Mac and Cheese is the perfect side dish with a grilled or barbecued main dish. Comfort food!
About 1 lb elbow macaroni
3½ Tbs butter
1/4 cup flour
2/3 cup milk
2/3 cup cream
1 tsp garlic powder
About 1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
2/3 cup grated cheese
1/4 cup dried breadcrumbs
Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the macaroni, about 1 minute less than directed on the package. Drain and set aside.
In a separate saucepan, melt the butter and whisk in the flour, then whisk in the milk and cream, bring to a simmer and let cook for a minute or two so that it is mixed well. Add 2/3 of the grated cheese and stir until melted. Season with garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.
Mix the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce. Pour into a greased Omnia Pan or use the Omnia Silicone Mold.
Top with the rest of the cheese and the breadcrumbs.
Bake at high heat for about 20 minutes until the macaroni begins to brown on the top.
